Meet our weekend Bharatanatyam instructor

Jwala Rejimon

Jwala Rejimon is a Bharatanatyam dancer based in North Carolina, USA, whose passion for classical Indian dance began at an early age. She started learning Bharatanatyam around age 7 with Smt. Subha Prasanna in Fishers, Indiana, and later trained under Smt. Vrinda Sunil, becoming the very first student of Natyalaya School of Dance. At age 12, she joined Smt. Mangala Anand to further her advancement in the Vazhuvoor style of Bharatanatyam, ultimately completing her Arangetram in August 2015 at Zionsville Performing Arts Center in Indiana, a milestone event that drew over 700 attendees. Following her Arangetram, she trained under the esteemed Guru Smt. Savithri Jagannatha Rao, an alumna of Kalakshetra College of Fine Arts and a direct disciple of Guru Smt. Rukmini Devi Arundale, as well as Kalakshetra Professor Smt. Nityakalyani Vaidhyanathan. Her rigorous training led to performances at prestigious sabhas in Chennai, including Sri Krishna Gana Sabha, and appearances at the Karur Natyanjali and Chidambaram Natyanjali Festivals, as well as features on Kalaignar TV’s Natya Utsavam series. In 2016, she became a prizewinner of the Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana Bharatanatyam Competition, earning her a role in the 2017 Srimad Bhagavatham dance productions. In more recent years, Jwala has continued to make her mark as both a performer and an organizer, coordinating the Cleveland Thyagaraja Festival’s Youth Performance for three consecutive years and, in 2025, performing in a production by Smt. Sumithra Subramaniam and Guru Smt. Jayanthi Subramaniam. Through both teaching and learning, Jwala remains committed to deepening her own artistry while inspiring the next generation to discover the beauty and richness of Indian classical dance.
